Üniversite öğrencilerinin üreme ve cinsel sağlığa yönelik bilgi düzeyleri

Abstract

Amaç: Araştırma, üniversite öğrencilerinin cinsel sağlık ve üreme sağlığına yönelik bilgilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini Gümüşhane Üniversitesi’nde sağlık, sosyal ve fen bilimlerinde lisans eğitimi alan basit rastgele örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 271 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen soru formu ve Cinsel Sağlık/Üreme Sağlığı Bilgi Ölçeği (CSÜSBÖ) ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde frekans, Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U Ki kare analizlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20,5±2,1’dir. Katılımcıların %57,8’i kız, %42,2’si erkek, %90,7’si bekârdır. Katılımcıların cinsel ve üreme sağlığı bilgi düzeylerini yeterli bulma durumları ile cinsiyetleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Okuldan, ailesinden, internet ve televizyon gibi medya araçlarından eğitim alan öğrencilerin, CSÜSBÖ puan ortalamaları daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin CSÜSBÖ puan ortalaması 13,7±5,0’dır. Bilgi puanı yeterli olan öğrenci yüzdesi 5,9’dur. Sonuç: Araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin, üreme ve cinsel sağlık bilgileri yetersiz bulunmuştur. Öğrencilere yönelik cinsel sağlık ve üreme sağlığı konularında yeterli hizmet verilebilmesi için, üniversiteler bünyesinde ‘Gençlik Danışma Birimi’ ya da ‘Üreme Sağlığı Merkezi’ adı altında birimler oluşturulmalı, sektörler arası işbirliği yapılmalı ve genç bireylerin ilgisini çekecek faaliyetler düzenlenmelidir.

Aim: The research was designed as a descriptive research in order to assess university students’ knowledge of sexual and reproductive health. Method: The sample of research consisted of 271 students studying at Gümüşhane University in faculties of health, social and science by using simple random sampling method. Data were obtained through the Sexual Health Reproductive Health Knowledge Scale (SHRHKS), and the questionnaire developed by the researcher. In the analysis, frequency, Kruskal Wallis, Mann Withney U, Chi square tests were used. Results: The average age of the students is 20.5±2.1. 57.8% of the participants were women, 42.2% were men, 90.7% of them were single. A significant difference was found between the participants’ genders and their perceptions about finding their knowledge levels of sexual and reproductive health conditions sufficient. Average SHRHKS score of the students who received education at school at home or from the internet and television was found to be higher. Students’ sexual knowledge scores’ mean was 13.7 ± 5.0. The percent of students who had sufficient level of knowledge was 5.9. Results: The results revealed that university students’ knowledge of sexual and reproductive health was insufficient. In order to provide the required sexual and recruitment services about reproductive health issues, units under the name of ‘Youth Advisory Unit’ or ‘Reproductive Health Center’ should be created, intersectoral partnerships should be established, and activities attracting young people’s attention should be organized.
