Üniversite öğrencilerinin özgüven düzeyleri ve sosyal destek algılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Yapılan araştırmada 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılında Biruni Üniversitesi'nde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin özgüven düzeyleri ve sosyal destek algılarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca özgüven düzeyi ile sosyal destek algısı arasında ilişki olup olmadığı da incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini Biruni Üniversitesi öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen 191 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada yer alan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 22,01±2,08'dir. Öğrencilerin %53,9'u kadın, %46,1'i erkektir. Medeni durumları ise %95,3'ü bekar, %4,7'si evlidir. Katılımcıların gelir ortalamaları 2015,45±1309,91 TL'dir. Araştırma kapsamında araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan demografik bilgi anketi, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ve Özgüven Ölçeği veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında elde edilen veriler, SPSS 25,0 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Algılanan sosyal destek ve özgüven ölçekleri ile öğrencilerin demografik değişkenleri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek için ikili gruplar arasında Mann-Whitney U testi, ikiden daha fazla grup arasında ise Kruskal Wallis testi uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin sosyal destek algıları ve özgüven düzeyleri ilişkiyi belirleyebilmek için ise Spearman's rho kolerasyonu testi uygulanmıştır. Anlamlılık düzeyi ise p<0,05 olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu araştırma sonucunda genel olarak öğrencilerin yüksek düzeyde sosyal destek algısına ve özgüvene sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Bunun yanı sıra sosyal destek algısı ve özgüven arasında orta derecede pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler Sosyal Destek Algısı, Özgüven, Üniversite Öğrencileri

The aim of the study was to examine the self-confidence levels and social support perceptions of the students studying at Biruni University in the 2020-2021 academic year. It was also examined whether there is a relationship between the level of self-confidence and the perception of social support. The universe of the research consists of the students of Biruni University. The sample of the study consists of 191 students determined by simple random sampling method. The mean age of the students in the study was 22.01±2.08. 23.9% of the students are female and 46.1% are male. Their marital status is 95.3% single and 4.7% married. The average income of the participants was 2015.45±1309.91 TL. Within the scope of the research, demographic information questionnaire, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and Self-Confidence Scale prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The data obtained within the scope of the research were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 program. In order to determine the relationship between perceived social support and self-confidence scales and demographic variables of students, Mann-Whitney U test was applied between paired groups and Kruskal Wallis test was applied between more than two groups. Spearman's rho correlation test was applied to determine the relationship between students' perceptions of social support and self-confidence levels. The significance level was determined as p<0.05. As a result of the research, it was observed that the students generally had a high level of social support perception and self-confidence. In addition, it has been determined that there is a moderate positive correlation between the perception of social support and self-confidence.
