Surveillance of patients following primary therapy
Abstract
Regular and appropriate follow-up of patients after treatment for breast cancer is an important aspect of comprehensive care. Breast cancer survival has increased due to improvements of treatment, leading to a much higher long-term survival of women diagnosed with breast cancer. The primary purpose of follow-up is often regarded as the early detection of recurrence as well as the detection of second primary tumors along with long-term sequelae of breast cancer treatment. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.
